It typically appears in areas previously affected by eczema but can also develop elsewhere.
While oral ulcers can occur with EC, they are far more common in classic HFMD.
Eczema herpeticum requires immediate antiviral treatment.

Treatment
Eczema coxsackium is self-limiting, meaning it goes away on its own.
It usually clears up within one to two weeks.
Eczema coxsackium is highly contagious.
It spreads easily through blister fluid, saliva, coughs, sneezes, and feces.
It is because of an enterovirus and usually affects young children.
EC goes away on its own, and serious complications are rare.
Treatment includes moisturizing, treating pain, preventing dehydration, and sometimestopical corticosteroidsand/or wet wrapping.
Suspected cases of EC should be seen by a healthcare provider to rule out eczema herpeticum.
