Family history or certain types of symptom profiles might indicate to a doctor that a pheochromocytoma may be present.

These tumors are also linked to certain, rare genetic conditions.

Pheochromocytoma Treatment

All pheochromocytomas need to be surgically removed.

The reasons for this are complicated but relate to the fact that this is high-risk and potentially dangerous surgery.

Since the blood pressure is usually already elevated, further increases can be dangerous.
