It is low in calories, with no fat, sodium, or cholesterol.

It is rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals, andbetalains.Betalains are pigments that have anti-inflammatory properties.

Nopal contains a wide variety of beneficial carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals.

Nopal has bothsoluble and insoluble fiber, which is a benefit for blood sugar.

All groups assigned to eating nopales had reductions in blood sugar.
