Gluten Intolerance Test: Does It Exist?
There are currently no specific tests available for healthcare providers to diagnosegluten intolerance.
For example, some research suggests that gluten sensitivity is related to other components found in gluten-containing cereal grains.
These sugars are found in all gluten-containing grains and are not well absorbed in the intestines.
When they start to ferment, they cause symptoms of gas, bloating, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
They will also do a physical exam.
Diagnosing a gluten-related condition is often done by agastroenterologist, a healthcare provider who specializes in digestive disorders.
It can be an option if there is any uncertainty about the diagnosis.
A gluten challenge takes place after you have been on a gluten-free diet for at least six weeks.
You will not know which is which.
If not, you may need to explore other causes of your symptoms.

An intestinal biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosing celiac disease.
