Hyporeflexiais the reduction or absence of the body’s normal reflexes.
Hyporeflexia is not a disease but a symptom that can be detected with a reflex hammer.
Other tests may be ordered to pinpoint the underlying cause.

The treatment of hyporeflexia varies by the cause, with some causes less treatable than others.

Causes
Reflexes are involuntary responses produced by certain stimuli.
Hyporeflexia triggers when the response is less than expected.
If there is no response, a person is said to haveareflexia.
Hyporeflexia is resulting from the disruption of nerve impulses from lower motor neurons.
There are never cell regulation motions that travel from the spinal cord to muscles.
(Upper motor neurons are those that travel from thecerebral cortexof the brain to thebrainstemor spinal cord.)
As it progresses, you may have trouble grasping items, maintaining your posture, or walking.
You may experience other symptoms depending on the underlying cause of your condition.
Some of these condition are also known to cause hyporeflexia or hyperreflexia.
Reflexes can be found in the knees, outside of the elbows, chin, ankles, and wrists.
Since there are many causes of hyporeflexia, other tests may be ordered to help narrow the causes.
These include:
Treatment
There is no single treatment for hyporeflexia given the many different causes.
Other conditions may be less treatable, and few may progress and worsen despite treatment.
They can do the appropriate tests and refer you to a neurologist if necessary.
