Because of this, the less ripe a banana is, the more likely it is to be acidic.
Conditions Triggered by Acidic Food
Several conditions can be triggered by acidic foods.
Gastrointestinal disorders, including heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), are the two most notable.
This metabolic condition is marked by high levels of acidic substances in the blood.
As mentioned above, a banana’s ripeness determines its acid level because of something known asresistant starch.
Resistant starches can cause more acid to be produced because they are harder to digest.
This makes bananas sweeter and softer.
Because of this, the softer a banana, the better it is at preventing heartburn.
Since bananas are only mildly acidic, their acidity level depends on how ripe they are.
