Provides Anti-Inflammatory and Antioxidant Benefits

Thecurcumin in turmerichas both anti-inflammatory andantioxidant effects.

The body makesfree radicals, unstable molecules that can cause DNA damage.

Curcumin has antioxidant effects because it binds to free radicals and helps neutralize them.

Curcumin can produce anti-inflammatory effects through several different mechanisms.

However, some evidence showed that curcumin was no more helpful than Advil (ibuprofen) in treating pain.

More research is needed to understand how curcumin fits into mental health treatment.

Positive effects were noted in only some of these studies.

In one meta-analysis, some studies done where people took curcumin for longer than eight weeks showed increased effects.

May Support Heart Health

Curcumin could benefitcardiovascular healthby acting as an antioxidant and managing blood sugar.

This helps managecholesterol levelsand reduce the risk of obesity, both of which affect cardiovascular health.

So far, the results of these studies have not concluded how curcumin could help people with cancer.

However, curcumin’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties could theoretically be useful in cancer prevention and treatment.

It may also have an anticancer effect by inhibiting the processes that help cancer cells grow.

Should You Really Take a Shot Every Day?

To have an effect on health, the curcumin in turmeric is usually taken as a supplement.

As much as 6 grams of turmeric daily taken for up to seven weeks is considered safe.

Taking turmeric shots every day should not harm most people.

However, in higher amounts, there is a potential for side effects.

One method involves putting the root into a juicer.

To tone down the strong taste, you may add lemon or ginger.

Alternatively, you could mix the turmeric into other liquids like orange juice or coconut water.

Turmeric shots can also be prepared by peeling and grating the root.

The powder is dissolved in water or other liquid.

Some recipes call for half a teaspoon of ground turmeric per shot.

Adding black pepper to a turmeric shot helps the body absorb the curcumin more readily.

This may be listed as piperine on supplement labels.

Some people may also be concerned about turmeric staining teeth.

However, it is unlikely to stain teeth unless it is consumed regularly.

Brushing twice a day should remove any stains before they become permanent.

Who Should Avoid Taking a Turmeric Shot?

This would be 210 milligrams for a 150-pound person.

Talking to a healthcare provider before starting any supplement is always important.

People with some medical conditions or who take certain medications may be advised to avoid higher doses of turmeric.

These include:

Turmeric Shots vs.

Putting turmeric in food is tasty but not enough curcumin will be absorbed from it to have therapeutic effects.

The curcumin found in turmeric is thought to have many health benefits.

Turmeric is not usually associated with side effects.

However, it could interact with health conditions or medications for some people.
